How much more must we take?Vigilante writes ... I'm not allowed to say this because the freedom of speech for which the UK is renowned now only seems to be the privilege of people who are not natural UK citizens. But damn it! I'm going to say it anyway. I am absolutely sick to death of loud-mouthed Muslims! It seems that almost every newscast these days features the spokesperson of some Muslim council or other bleating about the injustices that Muslims face in the UK and elsewhere in the world. So what? The words "shit" and "tough" spring to mind, not necessarily in that order. There are many people who were born in the UK of British stock that stretches back many centuries who are treated unfairly for various reasons and have to put up with it because no-one in government really cares. They're too busy appeasing minority groups. As we all know, Muslims in the guise of Iraqis have committed some pretty terrible atrocities against British and American soldiers and civilians in the last couple of years yet I do not recall any Methodist ministers, Church of England bishops, or members of any other Christian faith parading around British streets demanding head amputations for all Iraqis. I have no doubt there are some very nice Muslims residing in Britain. My local newsagent may be Muslim; the guy who owns the fish and chip shop may also be one. After all, they came from countries where Islam is a dominant faith. But I don't ask and they don't tell me. They are always very polite and I get on very well with both of them. They ask me how things are; they ask if I would like salt and vinegar on my chips but they never ask if I would like to convert to the Muslim faith. I am no longer a practising Christian but I still retain my basic C of E faith because it will no doubt come in handy when my time comes. But outside my own family, I have no idea if most other people I know go to church or not. I don't really care. If they do, it's their choice and they don't rant on about it constantly. I appreciate that. Occasionally, I get door-stepped by Jehovah's Witnesses and Mormons but I merely tell them I'm not interested and they usually leave without further argument. I do not deny any man the right to practise his religion as long as he doesn't try to ram it down my throat. Yet I get the sense that Muslims will never be happy until everyone in the UK converts to Islam and I seriously object to that. Why can't Muslims just go to their mosques, say their prayers, cleanse their souls and get on with life like everyone else? Why don't they try doing something to improve racial harmony instead of doing everything possible to antagonise the people who have given them the chance of a new life in a civilised country? I watched the lunchtime news today and learned that the London Borough of Islington has the highest numbers of people selling fake tobaccos on the street - tobacco that has ingredients so harmful they are capable of causing faster death than the tobacco itself. The one man ITV managed to interview without blanking out his face was an illegal immigrant from Iraq. He, and people like him, intimidate passing shoppers into buying their wares. "What else can I do?" he says in mitigation. "I cannot get a job." I am somewhat astounded because what he is doing is strictly against the law but the task of taking him off the streets apparently lies with Islington Council. No sign of immigration officers or officers from the Metropolitan Police which, in terms of crime reduction, is rapidly becoming the most useless organisation in London. To my mind, the answer to this Iraqi's predicament is quite simple: "You can go back to bloody Iraq! At worst, you might be at risk of a kicking from some British squaddies but, hey, if it's a choice between that and you selling death on British streets with your packets of poisoned fags, I know which I prefer." So I ask myself, "Will things ever improve?" Unfortunately, I fear they will not. We are regrettably hoist by our own petard. Many years ago, we should have been telling immigrants facts like 'These are our rules and regulations, these are our customs and beliefs, this is our language - accept our conditions and you are welcome in our country, otherwise bugger off!' Instead we fall over backwards to appease our ethnic minorities; we force everybody to be politically correct, and we play into the hands of those who want to change our traditions and customs to match theirs. For the last three successive weekends London has played host to three Muslim demonstrations/protests/marches, one of which was the occasion when masked men displayed life-threatening banners. How much longer do we have to put up with this crap? When will someone have the courage to do something positive about problems that have been smouldering for years and have now exploded to the surface? In the days when we had intelligent politicians, one of them tried to warn us what was to come ... and no-one listened! Visitors' CommentsI blame the government because if I was a foreigner and could get everything for free in the UK I'd swim over myself. I do agree with this. They come into our country and think it's theirs. Well it's a joke!!! I mean the police wont even stop them due to the fact that they're afraid and it's a joke!!!!!!!!!! CS, Birmingham Standing up for our country ...An incident witnessed in a supermarket recently: A Muslim woman dressed in a Burkha (black gown & face mask) was standing in the queue at the checkout. When she reached the cashier, she made a loud remark about the English Flag lapel pin the female cashier was wearing on her blouse. The cashier reached up and touched the pin and said, "Yes, I always wear it proudly. My son serves abroad with the forces and I wear it for him." The Muslim woman then asked the cashier when she was going to stop bombing Iraq and killing her countrymen. At that point, a gentleman standing in the queue stepped forward and interrupted with a calm and gentle voice. He said to the Iraqi woman: "Excuse me, but hundreds of thousands of men and women, just like this lady's son, have fought and sacrificed their lives so that people like YOU can stand here, in England, which is MY country and allow you to blatantly accuse an innocent check-out cashier of bombing YOUR countrymen. It is my belief that, if you were allowed to be as outspoken as that in Iraq, which you claim to be YOUR country, then we wouldn't need to be fighting there today. However - now that you have learned how to speak out and criticise English people who afforded you the protection of OUR country, I will gladly pay the cost of a ticket for you to go back to Iraq. When you get there, and if you manage to survive after being as outspoken as you are here in England, then you should be able to help straighten out the mess which YOUR Iraqi countrymen got you into in the first place - which, it appears, is the mess you came to MY country to avoid." Apparently every one else in the queue cheered and applauded.
