This customer's experience with this company was not goodOur correspondent writes ... We hired three floor sanders from this company and they arrived at the time and on the day we had agreed. A £350 deposit was required which they took from my credit card - and the arrangement was that, on return of the sanders, they would reimburse the deposit less the cost of the sander hire and the sand paper belts we had used. All seemed to be above board until the Monday when it was due to be collected. The slot for collection was from 8am - 12am. At 12.15 no-one had arrived so I had to leave for work. Before then I had made numerous calls telling them the collection time was critical but all I got was the usual excuses - 'the driver is on his way', 'his mobile is switched off', etc, etc... After many phone calls from ME to THEM (you'd think they wanted us to keep the sanders) they finally collected them four days later on the Friday. The driver didn't count any of the sanding belts but just took the box away with him. Three weeks later we still hadn't had a refund so I started calling them again. I called and I called and I called and I called again. I spoke to various people including a bimbo who didn't appear to have a brain and a Mr 'I don't give a damn' and others. They all seemed to have something in common - they were rude, unhelpful, and claimed they couldn't believe this had happened 'because it wasn't like £350 was a lot of money.....' Basically they had lost our paperwork and, as a result, had no intention of refunding any of our money us as they didn't know how much they needed to refund. What a cheek! Anyway, to cut a long story short, I threatened legal action and already had the credit card company investigating the chances of retrieving the full £350. Eventually the Floor Sander Hire Company paid up. Over one month later! But there was one other problem. As they hadn't counted the sanding belts on collection I said we hadn't used any and had bought our own. So we weren't charged for them, saving a little bit of money and getting our own back in a very small way. Moral of the story - if you want to sand your floors find another sander hire company. The one we used is all hassle. RS, London Editorial comment:It's always possible this was just a one-off customer experience but when we publish these reports we often find many other customers have had similar problems. As feedback comes in from visitors, we can establish the true scale of the problem from the voting.
